Day 2: Refocusing on Righteousness
Money & Me — Week 1
"But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness." — 1 Timothy 6:11 (ESV)

Notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't say "balance your pursuit of God with your pursuit of financial security." He says flee from one and pursue the other. That's not passive language. That's a man running.

When the economy gets shaky, our instinct is to grip tighter — to our savings, our plans, our control. Paul says the opposite. Run toward righteousness. Run toward faith. Run toward endurance. Because those are the things that can't be repossessed, can't be devalued, and can't crash with the market.

This isn't about ignoring your finances. It's about refusing to let them sit on the throne. There's only room for one thing there — and it's not your 401(k).

Prayer: God, when my instinct is to grip tighter, teach me to open my hands. Help me pursue You harder than I pursue security. Amen.

Reflect: What are you gripping tightest right now — and is it keeping you from running toward God?
